North Captiva Island is the best-kept secret in Florida: only fourmiles long and half a mile wide, North Captiva is a Caribbean-likebarrier island accessible only by a 20-minute boat ride. There are nocars and no paved roads (transportation is only by electric golf carton sand roads!). Nearby Captiva Island and Sanibel Island were oncejust like North Captiva until bridges brought traffic and hordes oftourists to their shores.
