Cottage Sabbia's stone walls and minimal decor play second fiddle to the views, seen from everywhere except the bedroom with two single beds. An air-conditioning unit in the hall keeps both bedrooms and the living room cool. The living room and the bedroom with two single beds have window screens. A small kitchen corner with a US-style coffee maker and a toaster is smartly hidden in an armoire. Maid service may be arranged when booking.

Within a mile from the villa is a tiny village with a restaurant. Avola, just over a mile away, it offers a supermarket, restaurants and local trains to Siracusa. The local red wine Nero d'Avola is noted by Wine Enthusiast.

Baroque Noto is within a 10 minute drive. The Vendicari Reserve with its walking paths through semi-tropical flora, bird sanctuaries and unspoiled beaches lies 30 minutes away; Siracusa and Ortigia: 20; Palazzolo Acreide: 45; Ragusa: 80; Catania; 60; Taormina: 90; Agrigento or Palermo: three hours.
