North Captiva Island is the best-kept secret in Florida: only four miles long and half a mile wide, North Captiva is a Caribbean-like barrier island accessible only by a 20-minute boat ride. Nearby Captiva Island and Sanibel Island were once just like North Captiva until bridges brought traffic and hordes of tourists to their shores.
