Old La Jolla Village , La Jolla, California
Rental PID: #30446 Baths: 3 Beds: 4 Sleeps: 8
Description
Welcome to The Sea Dahlia, circa 1914, a summer cottage, in a much sought after location, the heart of downtown La Jolla and the last of a dying breed of simple spacious turn of the century homes and across the street from La Jolla's Cultural Zone. Architecturally, it emulates the look and feel of an earlier, quieter era of village life. Our spacious kitchen catches the morning sun. Pressed tin ceiling tiles are used as back splashes and warm earthy tones of our unique floor make for a very cheerful ambience.A fireplace in the living room adds to the sense of warmth and hominess as does our large shaded porch which is a great place to watch the parade of life on warm summer days. Our corner yard with fountain is fun and interesting. Our front yard is dominated by a very forty foot high, 90 year old, magnolia tree. When we remodeled the Sea Dahlia, our plan was to accommodate the oldest living resident on the property the tree. And the tree pays us back by shading us from the afternoon sun and keeping our home about ten degrees cooler than the ambient temperature. In fact, we did not even need to install air conditioning because the combination of being just a few blocks from the beach and shade from the tree, our home remains cool.A Jacuzzi and shower are in the backyard. The Jacuzzi fits three adults or four children and is very nice after a day of snorkeling and swimming at La Jolla Cove.
