The cottage is new, comfortable and is situated behind the owner’s beachfront home in a quiet palmed garden setting. It is private, quiet, peaceful and smoke free. It is ideal for a couple but will accommodate 2 couples or a couple with 2 children. The cottage is only a one-minute walk to the beach, and a few minutes drive to the Kuaotunu boat ramp. Boat parking can be arranged with the owner. Matarangi Golf course, clubhouse and cafés are only a 10-minute drive.

This holiday home features one bedroom (there are foldaway beds for children), one bath, 21” TV, (SKY), stereo with CD/DVD/Video, an oil column heater, an electric heater, a telephone is available (toll calls by arrangement), fridge/freezer, oven and cook top, microwave, electric fry pan, toasted sandwich maker and a coffee percolator. For guests staying more than 2 nights we offer free washing machine use in our home, which is directly adjacent to the cottage. The owner’s are both very knowledgeable about the area and it’s history, and are also mindful of your privacy but are on hand should the need arise.

Surrounding Description

Once a thriving gold mining town, Kuaotunu is located approximately 15kms north of Whitianga on SH25. North facing beach with good swimming, snorkeling, and the surf can be excellent off the Blackjack Point. The rocky outcrops can be good for shell collecting, the 2kms stretch of beach is popular for walks. There is a boat ramp, and some excellent fishing, surfcasting and diving spots. Bush walks via a walkway on the Waitaia Road leading to an abandoned gold mine with glow-worms and the Kiwi Sanctuary. The river and lagoon is ideal for children. A general store including liquor, petrol, LPG and dive tank refill facilities.
